Jon McCann - Resident Artist

We asked Jon a few questions about himself before he went back home to the US to visit his family. He was due to come back after a few weeks, but then the world locked down due to Covid 19. We hope he comes back to us one day!
How long have you been tattooing?
I did my first tattoo in 1994 at my house. After practicing tattoos and teaching myself for 5 years, I started my apprenticeship at a professional studio March 1, 2000. I have been professionally tattooing for 20 years now.
Describe your style
I can do any style of tattoo. I can cover any old tattoo with a beautiful new design. I like big tattoos and specialize in bright colorful custom artwork. Cartoons and portraits as well.
Why do you like being a tattooist?
I like to be a tatuador because I cannot stop creating art. I love people and it makes me feel good when I make them happy. Making tattoos is the most important thing in my life.
What did you do before you started tattooing?
Before tattooing I was a punk rock skateboarder.
What are you doing when you are not tattooing?
When I’m not tattooing I paint murals with aerosol and paint canvases for art exhibits. I travel the world, work tattoo expositions, and do a lot of tattoos in USA.
What plans do you have for the future?
In the future I plan to visit as many countries as possible and to learn more about tattooing and become the best artist I can be. I am excited watch the evolution of tattooing. It has been an amazing life so far!
